The Windjammer Pub Opens in Royal Docks, East London
The Windjammer, a brand-new pub in East London’s Royal Wharf, officially opened its doors on 12 March 2020 to the delight of locals.
As the only pub in the area, it’s set to become both an important part of the community and a destination for those from afar, with a focus on fresh, seasonal food, friendly service, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
Hannah Joseph, General Manager of The Windjammer, said the pub has based its offering, from the menu choices through to weekly events, on community input.
She said: "Fuller's, being a family-run business, loved the idea of joining such an exciting and diverse area. We made it a priority pre-opening to really get to know people in the area to find out exactly what they want from their new local pub."
Based on this feedback, The Windjammer will host a quiz night and other events each week, as well as supervised arts and crafts activities for children every weekend.
“We’re really excited to have officially opened our doors. I love the place and I’m really happy with how it has turned out. We’ve got a great team, many of them are locals, and we’re looking forward to meeting all of our neighbours and becoming part of this community.”
Hannah Joseph, General Manager of The Windjammer.
A peek inside Royal Wharf’s new local
Named after merchant sailing ships, The Windjammer carries the sailing theme throughout. With a split-level interior, including a large downstairs bar and dining area and a versatile mezzanine floor above, all with stunning views of the River Thames, it’s set to become a popular place to meet, drink and dine near Royal Docks.
Located in close proximity to Pontoon Dock DLR, The Thames barrier, London City Airport, and ExCeL London, the pub is within easy reach of public transport and local attractions.
And, as the weather begins to warm, the pub’s large outdoor terrace will become a magnet on sunny days. With room for 90 people and positioned for all-day sun, it’s the ideal spot to enjoy a coffee and brunch, or a well-deserved pint after work. It’s also dog-friendly in case patrons want to bring their furry friend along.
