The Bear of Burton Pub with Rooms Opens in Dorset

Date: 27 Mar 2020
Categories: Pubs Articles and Events

The Bear of Burton, an elegant country pub with rooms in Dorset, opened its doors for the first time on 12 March, adding to Christchurch’s bustling food and hotel scene.

Formerly known as The Manor, it was renamed in tribute to Robert Southey, author of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, who lived in Burton between 1799 and 1805. It has received a full refurbishment, transforming the building into a charming country retreat with 10 beautiful bedrooms and a pub with delicious, fresh-cooked food at its heart.

Some of the standout features include a prix fixe lunch menu, afternoon tea, private dining rooms for groups of up to 26 people, and a Coravin wine system that allows wine enthusiasts to sample rare wines that normally aren’t available by the glass.

The terrace and surrounding grounds have also been transformed, maximising the stunning location and creating a large sun trap terrace, perfect for alfresco dining and afternoon tea.
