The Ship Inn sails into winter with a fresh new look
It has been ‘all hands on deck’ at The Ship Inn, a family-friendly seaside pub and restaurant overlooking Sweare Deep and Emsworth Harbour in Langstone, which has set sail into winter with a fresh new look and menu.
At the helm is Captain (Manager) Mark Dawson, who said the three weeks of renovations included a fresh décor, enhanced upstairs function space, and diverse new menu.
“The new look and feel is warm and welcoming with a traditional but modern décor. The pub hasn’t had a refurb in quite a few years, so it was more about keeping it fresh while maintaining its traditional charm,” Mark explained.
Now the pub is in ship-shape for the festive season and beyond.
Let life sail by…
Situated off the Hayling Island Bridge, The Ship Inn is in a conservation area with a wealth of walking routes. Marking the half-way point on the Hayling Billy Trail, it’s the perfect place to get blown off course. The pub even has its own mooring if you fancy arriving by boat.
Proudly holding the Master Cellarman Award for expertly kept beer, drop anchor at the bar to try one of the pub’s award-winning cask ales or a pint of craft beer.
Whether it’s a cocktail, cider, spirit, artisan soft drink, wine, or a coffee made from Fuller’s exclusive Fairtrade Brewer St Coffee blend – you’re bound to find a tipple that takes your fancy from the bar.

Catch of the day
Step aboard to sample the pub’s new autumn and winter menu, where locally sourced ingredients take the spotlight – especially freshly caught fish.
Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday roasts, The Ship Inn is a family-friendly restaurant with a bespoke children’s menu. The new menus are a blend between traditional pub dishes and world food, with Chef Signatures changing daily.
Enjoy a meal outside by the water’s edge, or in the casual main bar where dogs are welcome. For a more formal dining experience, head upstairs to the dining room to enjoy stunning views over the harbour.

A place to celebrate
Exciting improvements have been made to the upstairs restaurant and function space, which is available for private hire for all types of events, including celebrations, corporate events, conferences, private dining, and business meetings.
Mark said: “We have created a multi-purpose function space upstairs by installing bi-folding doors to create a private room that can accommodate up to 40 people for all types of events, with the ability of opening up the entire space for large functions of up to 100 people.”
The pub will continue to host its famous annual Raft Race around Emsworth Harbour, which started in 2013 and raises money for charity. Keep an eye on The Ship Inn’s What’s On page for details.
