How we celebrated 174 years of Fuller, Smith & Turner
On Tuesday 19 November, all 200 of our managed pubs across England got together to raise a glass to 174 years since the official partnership papers of Fuller, Smith & Turner were signed in 1845.
Each pub celebrated in its own unique way, from comedy shows and pub quizzes, to tap takeovers and charity fundraisers – there really was something for everyone.
As well as enjoying a great Fuller's party across multiple venues, pub-goers could also claim three drinks for £1.74 each.
I went along to a few of the Get Together events happening in our pubs to soak up the atmosphere and capture the action – here’s how we celebrated 174 years of Fuller’s in our pubs.
A day of celebrations
On the day, everyone was in full celebratory spirit. The pubs were decorated with bunting and balloons and delicious birthday cakes were baked at The Fox & Goose Hotel in Ealing and The King’s Head in Guidlford, which party-goers were lucky enough to get a slice of.
If you were in London, it was easy to plan an effortless and affordable pub-crawl. The Telegraph in Moorgate celebrated in style with live music and birthday cake cocktails. Less than a mile down the road, The Hydrant in Monument went back in time by kitting out the pub for a Tuesday night tournament with retro games, table tennis and darts – similar to an old school social club.
Perched on the edge of the City of London, The Artillery Arms provided a more relaxed setting. The pub is known for its perfectly conditioned cask ales, which everyone was able to make the most of with the £1.74 drinks offer. The night was spent competing with vintage boardgames and enjoying live music from the Guildhall students.
Getting Together for charity
The Saint at St Paul’s took the opportunity to host a pub quiz, with all proceeds going towards helping the homeless. The evening was filled with fast-flowing drinks, a gin and wine tasting, and delicious finger-food. There was a great party atmosphere throughout the night and the event was successful in bringing people and community together – which is what Get Together is all about.
What a day! It was great seeing the different ways our pubs celebrated 174 years of Fuller’s, putting on special Get Together events with happy staff and customers honouring the role pubs have in the heart of our communities.
Everyone captured the true essence of Get Together and made the celebrations a fantastic success. A record breaking 22,000 customers visited our pubs and redeemed over 42,000 drinks at £1.74 each – meaning the pressure is on for going even bigger next year!
