Big Ben & Westminster Abbey
Perhaps London's most iconic sight of all, Big Ben towers over the Houses of Parliament on the banks of the River Thames. You can also take in Westminster Abbey, which is across the square from Big Ben. Sir Isaac Newton is buried next to Charles Darwin at this site and is one of the must-see sights on your itinerary.
The Palace of Westminster
The Palace of Westminster is the meeting place for the House of Commons and the House of Lords. A breath-taking neo-Gothic building, it’s been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
St James’s Park
St James’s Park is a 23-hectare park in the City of Westminster and is surrounded by many of London's most iconic attractions and landmarks. There are often events held in and around the park, including on the Horse Guards Parade and on the Mall that leads to Buckingham Palace.

The London Eye
A quick stroll across Westminster Bridge – with Big Ben in the background providing the perfect photo opportunity – brings you to The London Eye. This popular attraction needs to be booked in advance, but the panoramic views of London make it worth the extra effort.
Shakespeare’s Globe
Theatre fans should also head to perhaps the most famous landmark in the area, Shakespeare’s Globe, a modern reconstruction of the original late 16th-century theatre, which stood around 750 feet from the new site. Located on the River Thames, in Bankside's Cultural Quarter, seeing an open-air production of Shakespeare's works at this iconic venue isn’t to be missed.
The London Dungeon
Finally, a thrilling, heart-jumping 90 minutes of family fun can be found at The London Dungeon, a spooky attraction charting the history of torture, crime and death in the capital. Packed with special effects, thrilling rides and live actors, the addition of ‘Vengeance’ to the dungeon’s exhibits is notable for being the UK's first 5D laser ride.
Explore London’s Museums
Spend a day at the Museums – The three museums in South Kensington (the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the V&A) provide a wide range of exhibitions, displays and other activities, so there’s sure to be something for everyone.
Kensington Palace
Kensington Palace is the official home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as Prince Harry. The first royal residents were William and Mary in the 17th century and other royals to live there included Queen Anne, King George I, King George II, Queen Victoria and Princess Diana. Today, visitors can explore the more historic areas of the palace, although large portions are off limits since it’s still a private home.
Walk upon the River Thames
Take your time to walk along the River Thames for a truly remarkable scenic walk and view.
There are plenty of great photo opportunities along the way. But be sure to save time to visit Tower Bridge and The Tower of London.
Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is one of the most recognisable structures in the world. It was built more than 125 years ago to ease road traffic while maintaining river access to the London docks, and was constructed with giant moveable roadways that lift up for passing ships. You can visit this iconic landmark to discover the history of the bridge and how it works today.
The Tower of London
The Tower of London is very popular visitors to London as it rich in the city’s history and also houses the Crown Jewels. Other interesting rooms within the tower are the prison cell Sir Walter Raleigh, commonly known as the Bloody Tower, as well the Chapel of St John and the Royal Armories. The Tower is open daily until 17:30.
