The Hydrant by Monument Opens

Earlier this week, we invited London Fire Brigade Commissioner, Ron Dobson CBE, QFSM, FIFireE, to officially open our latest City pub, The Hydrant.

Situated right next to London’s iconic Monument to the Great Fire of London, The Hydrant offers a great range of craft beer and delicious food to City workers, residents and tourists.

Donations were made, at the Commissioner’s request, to the Fire Fighters Charity and the Children’s Burns Trust in return for opening the pub. In addition, we will be making a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity for every Hydrant Screwdriver sold from the pub’s cocktail menu during the pub’s first year.

The Hydrant, which was formerly known as The Fine Line, has undergone a nine-week transformation that included the building of a brand new cellar to cater for the site’s improved craft beer range. An extended upper gallery, more window-side tables and a private dining room are also new additions to the pub.

The menu at the Hydrant includes crispy buttermilk chicken, braised octopus and spiced monkfish as well as a wide range of vegetarian options such as roasted beetroot and chargrilled baby artichokes. Open seven days a week, the team will also be serving up a full breakfast menu.

Chief Executive Simon Emeny said:

"It is an amazing scheme – we’ve gained extra space, a fantastic private dining room and the range of interesting craft beers, complementing the fantastic brands we brew in Chiswick, should set the City’s taste buds tingling.”
