The Counting House pub in Cornhill, renowned for its delicious British handmade pies and traditional cask ales, has added four-star accommodation to its long list of reasons to visit.
Beautiful Bedrooms By Fuller’s operates 34 boutique hotels and inns across England, each with a classic British pub at its heart. The Counting House is the latest pub to join the Fuller’s 'pubs with rooms' family after opening its 15 rooms in February.

A building with history
The Counting House isn’t your typical pub with rooms. Originally designed by H.C. Boyes and built in 1893 as Prescott’s Bank, The Counting House stands on the site of the former bank of Dimsdale, Fowler and Company. A gentleman’s club was established in the building in 1895 called the City University Club, which is where the 15 bedrooms are today.
In 1903, the bank merged with the Union of London and Smiths’ Bank and in 1918 it was taken over by the National Provincial Bank, becoming a part of the National Westminster Bank in 1970.
Today, the building has become a Fuller’s pub with rooms, but much of the charm of the banking hall has been well preserved within its grand décor. In fact, when The Counting House first opened its doors in 1998, Fuller’s was presented with the City Heritage Award for carrying out a sensitive refurbishment of the building.

The new boutique hotel rooms at The Counting House are furnished with luxurious mattresses, Egyptian cotton bed sheets, Nespresso machines and complimentary toiletries, with a mix of double, twin and family rooms available.
A prime London location
The Counting House’s central location in Bank is close to many of London’s famous sites, including the Tower of London, London Bridge, the Gherkin, Barbican Arts Centre, Sky Garden, Borough Market, Liverpool Street and more, making it an excellent base to explore London.

The Counting House serves up the best in British pub cuisine with handcrafted pies, fish and chips and other hearty comfort foods on the menu. The breakfast menu consists of full English breakfasts, eggs benedict and lighter, healthier options.
