Whether it’s a meeting point to start the walk, or your reward at the end, we have loads of pub walks, offering scenic routes and rewarding views. Here are just a few great pubs for walking to consider, whether it’s along the Thames or in the heart of the New Forest.
The Mayfly, Fullerton and The White Hart, Stockbridge

The Mayfly is a charming pub located on the banks of the River Test in Hampshire, one of the UK's best trout fishing rivers. The pub has a large terrace overlooking the river, where you can sit and enjoy a drink or a meal while watching the river flow by in the summer. The pub also offers a range of walks along the river, including the Test Way, a long-distance footpath that follows the River Test for 44 miles.
From The Mayfly, you can follow this footpath towards Stockbridge, which takes you through some beautiful countryside and quaint villages. Along the way, you'll pass by the Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve, which is home to a variety of birds and other wildlife.
In Stockbridge, you'll come across The White Hart, located in the heart of the town. They have a great selection of beers and ciders, and the food menu features locally sourced ingredients.
The Bull Inn, Sonning
The Bull Inn is a charming 16th-century pub located in the picturesque village of Sonning, just a few miles outside of Reading. Walking around The Bull Inn and the surrounding area is a wonderful way to explore the area, and the pub has accommodation if you are planning on a longer trip.
There are several walking routes available, including a circular walk along the River Thames, which takes you through the lovely Sonning Eye nature reserve. Along the way, you'll enjoy breath-taking views of the river and the lush greenery.

The Dove and The Blue Boat, Hammersmith
The Dove in Hammersmith is a historic pub located on the banks of the River Thames. It's a great starting point (and end point) for a leisurely walk along the river, taking in the scenic views and iconic landmarks. You can head east towards Putney Bridge or west towards Barnes, with plenty of picturesque spots along the way to rest and take in the view. The walk offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city where you can enjoy a refreshing drink or a meal in the charming riverside setting.
The Blue Boat is in Hammersmith and offers beautiful views of the Thames from its outdoor seating area. It's a great spot for a drink or a meal while watching London go by.

The Banker, City of London
The Banker sits on the bank of The Thames nestled by Canon Street station and is popular with locals and tourists alike. It is a great place to stop for a drink or a meal after work or a day of sightseeing along the Thames. The outdoor terrace is particularly popular in the summer months, offering a relaxing spot to enjoy a pint in the sunshine while the river flows underneath you.

The White Buck, Burley
The White Buck is a charming pub located in the village of Burley, surrounded by the stunning New Forest countryside. The pub has a cosy interior contrasted with a large, open beer garden which is the perfect place to unwind after a long summer’s walk.

The Oak Inn, Lyndhurst
If you’re walking through the New Forest near Lyndhurst, you'll come across The Oak Inn, a historic pub located just outside of the town. The pub has a cosy interior with wooden beams and a large fireplace, the latter of which is ideal if you’ve just experienced some glorious British rainfall on your walk and need to warm up.
The Alice Lisle, Ringwood
A popular walking route in the New Forest is the Castleman Trailway. You can follow the Castleman Trailway towards Ringwood, passing through some beautiful woodland and heathland along the way. In Ringwood, you’ll find The Alice Lisle, a historic pub featuring stunning views of Rockford Lake.
