The Bull Inn Partners with Sonning Primary School: Investing in Early Years Education for the Local Community
The Bull Inn, Sonning [High Street, Sonning RG4 6UP] and Sonning Church of England Primary School have recently embarked on a new partnership to help raise funds for the school.
Sonning Primary School is committed to enhancing its pupils’ education through a series of projects over the next two years – outlined in its Projects Manifesto – including improvements to important areas of the school such as the cloakrooms, hall and playground.
The Bull has committed to fundraising in the pub through various events and activities to help support these projects. General Manager of The Bull, Kim Bibby, has plenty of fundraising planned – with community and seasonal events scheduled throughout the year. The first project Kim and the team are working on is sponsoring the publication of a pupil-created cookbook – which will also include a recipe from The Bull’s Head Chef, Clayton Baker.
Kim Bibby, General Manager of The Bull Inn, said: “As two pillars of the local community, it made sense for The Bull and Sonning Primary School to come together to enhance the experiences of the local school children. It’s so important to invest in the early years of learning as it’s the most critical period in a child’s development and I am really proud to support Sonning Primary School. Phil Sherwood, Headteacher of Sonning Primary School, said: “I’m really glad to have The Bull on board to support our fundraising efforts. Kim and the wider team have been incredibly supportive so far and I can’t wait to see this partnership grow. This year, to help us achieve all that is outlined in the Projects Manifesto, we have also launched our 60 For 60 fundraising initiative – which is open to our families and wider community to sign up to give a monthly donation of £5. Sonning Primary School has been educating the children of the community on its current site in Liguge Way for over 60 years and with the support of this initiative – and members of the community such as The Bull – we aim to continue to do so for another 60 years and more. So, I encourage you to head to The Bull and get involved in their fundraising efforts to help support our school to live out its vision of helping build strong foundations for the years ahead.”
