The Beehive in Wandsworth, named Fuller’s Master Cellarman of the Year 2018

Fuller, Smith & Turner P.L.C., the London brewer and premium pub company, has named Monica Lishman from The Beehive in Wandsworth as the winner of its Master Cellarman of the Year Award 2018.

Monica won this award owing to the excellent quality of beer in her pub, impressing the judges with the effort and care put in to the cellar and bar. The Beehive joined six other Fuller’s pubs listed as finalists; The Merchant in Canary Wharf (runner-up), The Stag in Leighton Buzzard (awarded third place), The Three Guineas in Reading (awarded Best Newcomer), The Crown & Sceptre in Shepherd’s Bush, The Old Customs House in  Gunwharf Quays and The Crystal Palace in Bath  - who received The Pride and Passion Award. These pubs were all individually visited and assessed by Fuller’s judges – Head  Brewer, George Young and Trade Quality Team Leader, Ashley Cherrett.

The Master Cellarman of the Year Award celebrates those pubs in the Fuller’s estate that not only have high quality beers, but that consistently impress. Every few months, Fuller’s pubs are visited by Trade Quality Advisors and are given a score out of 50 upon each inspection. The pubs that score 96% across these visits throughout the year are entered in to the running for Master Cellarman of the Year Award. During these rigorous quality checks, the Trade Quality Advisors inspect cellar hygiene, dispense equipment and bar organisation. Samples of beer are also analysed to ensure customers are receiving the best quality product possible, as expected from a Fuller’s pub.

Monica, licensee of The Beehive, said: “ I am incredibly proud to have received this award. It is great that my team can be recognised for their hard work and high standards when it comes to keeping our cellar and our beer to the highest of quality, making each pint perfect.”
