The White Star reopens – a titanic launch in the heart of Southampton
After a short period of closure, we're excited to announce the reopening of The White Star, Southampton. Here's a sneak peek of the pub and hotel's fresh, new look.
The White Star will be focusing on delivering fresh, seasonal produce to its customers and nods towards its historic links to the Titanic. The hotel was once owned by The White Star Line who also owned The Titanic. This was where many of the ship’s guests stayed the night before they boarded and both passengers and crew would wine and dine in frequently.
Bridget Vyze, the manager at The White Star, is keen to keep the historic links alive.
‘The standard of high service still used on ships today is referred to as ‘white star service’ and that’s exactly what we intend to deliver here with our food, drink and staff. Our 17 bedrooms are also the first choice for visitors in Southampton, especially the cruise liner guests and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back again".

"We’ll also be honouring our links to the famous ship with our signature dish which is taken from the first-class dining menu on the 14 April 1912, the night The Titanic sank, and the last supper on board".

"We recognise that creating restaurant quality food is no easy task, it takes a rare blend of skill and imagination, not to mention a desire for perfection – that’s why we are thrilled to have our head chef, Manuel Hernandez Garza on board, who really does take taste personally".

The White Star's head chef, Manuel has a background in fresh, Mediterranean cuisine and over 20 years’ experience in the kitchen. He is also excited to welcome back customers to the pub and hotel with a brand-new menu.

"Our menu is bursting with fresh ingredients cooked fresh using local suppliers who supply our fresh produce. I want to bring back the quality of food from when we had two rosettes using local produce from local suppliers and all cooked fresh. After a huge refurbishment we now have the kitchen, the team and a new vision, we’re going to be even better than before."

The food is not the only reason to visit The White Star though. With an elegant nautical theme subtly running throughout the refurbished interior offers regulars and visitors the ideal spot for an after-work drink or evening cocktail, with a generous dose of historic local glamour promised to ensure a first-class evening in the heart of Southampton.
