The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize winners for 2019
The winners of The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize for 2019 were revealed on 28 August. This year saw more than 400 entries, of which 21 finalist artists were selected to exhibit their submitted artworks at Burgh House in Hampstead for the final round of judging and award ceremony.
The competition aims to support, encourage and mentor emerging women painters, and is open to women painters over the age of 18 years who are living and working in the UK or the EU.
The initiative was developed by Holly Bush Events Manager Martin Seymour, alongside Sue Ecclestone of Ecclestone Art, and this year the prize has received the endorsement and support of British actor Dame Emma Thompson.
The Holly Bush, an 18th century Fuller’s pub and restaurant in Hampstead, has sponsored the prize since it started in 2017. Fuller’s also supports the event by providing a £1,000 art commission to the prize winner.
This year’s first prize included a cheque for £1,500 and the opportunity to exhibit artwork at the prestigious Flux Exhibition, one of London’s leading exhibitions for talented dynamic painters, sculptors and performance artists.
