What’s changed at Ealing’s The Castle Inn
Ealing’s liveliest local, The Castle Inn, reopened on 23 November after receiving a full refurbishment inside and out, including a new pub sign, a fresh lick of paint, new furnishings, furniture and menu.
The Fuller’s managed pub was closed for 10 days to carry out the renovations, which Manager Jon Ward said has resulted in a completely new look.
“Everything has changed – from the signage to the toilets, it has had a complete refresh and they have done a fantastic job in such a short amount of time. The new sign is a giant castle chess piece which is really unique – it’s beautiful,” he said.
“It’s the same Castle with the same team and the same heart and feel, but it’s brighter, more up-to-date and our customers love it.”
Ealing’s liveliest local
Jon, who has managed the pub for the past five years and worked there as a barman before taking the reins, said the pub’s new look matches its young and vibrant demographic.
“The Castle Inn has become Ealing’s liveliest local – we’re known for our live music, especially our open mic night on a Thursday which draws a crowd from near and far. Freddy Mercury was one of our customers back in the day, along with many other great musicians.
“The Castle Inn has a huge history. It was opened in the mid-1800s. Originally called The Castle, it was an old Coaching Inn and we still have the archway. Where the bathrooms are used to be the stables.”

A new menu
The new drinks menu consists of Fuller’s award-winning traditional ales, tasty lagers, IPAs, ciders, wines and spirits – including a wide range of gins – and the introduction of new craft beer from local brewers such as Yeastie Boys, Hop Stuff and Wild Beer Co.
Those looking for a caffeine fix are also in luck as the pub makes a great coffee, too – made with Fuller’s own signature Brewer Street blend.
What’s cooking at The Castle Inn
The reopening also saw the launch of the pub’s new menu, courtesy of Head Chef Carl Hawkins and his team, which now includes a ‘Build-Your-Own Burger’ menu where diners can create the burger of their dreams.
“Our new menu focuses on burgers and bar bites and we’ve already had excellent feedback on our burgers, some people have told us it’s the best burger they’ve ever had!”
Their beloved Sunday roast menu is now bigger and better than ever before, with an array of choices from traditional favourites including aged beef, lamb shoulder, chicken, turkey and a vegetarian Wellington.
Burger-lovers can build their own masterpiece at The Castle Inn, Ealing.
