New Additions to Experience the Works
Paul, General Manager of Experience the Works at Fuller’s, has written an update on the progress of the new space, tours and pilot plant at The Griffin Brewery in Chiswick.
As I write this it has been almost six weeks since the opening of the first stage of Experience the Works at Fuller’s Brewery. The Brewery Shop has been overwhelmingly successful with nothing but positive comments received from locals, overseas visitors, brewery tour attendees and even the wonderful team at the Brewery and colleagues from our pubs. Our feedback has been encouraging, and visitors have reported being blown away by the look and feel, the sense of space, the air con (a must during this heat), most of the music (not enough reggae I’m afraid), and the range of great merchandise and drinks to buy.
I thought that it would be great to introduce you to our expanding team.
The Growler Bar has been hugely popular, selling over 240 64oz growler bottles during the first month. Alongside our seasonal cask and keg range we have poured Vintage Ale, Cornish Orchards Dry Cider, Dark Star Helles Lager and Fuller’s and Friends Collaborations. Check the @Fullers twitter feed for updates as to what is available.
‘Roxy, Ace Merchandiser and Queen of Soul’
Our new range of merchandise has been flying off the racks and shelves. Particularly popular are our Vintage and ‘Only at Fuller’s’ James Stock t-shirts, our new Fuller’s Kitchen food range including delicious items such as Paul’s Chocolate Brownie and a breakfast set, and of course our much loved beer gift boxes.
‘Chris, Brewery Tour Boss Lady’
Our Brewery Tours are fabulous, and I believe one of the best brewery experiences you will find anywhere in the world. Alongside our usual tasting tour we will now be offering more bespoke experiences, coupling our tours with brewer masterclasses, tutored beer tastings and wine and cheese events. These are held within our event space, The Tun Room, which is also available for private hire for meetings, parties, celebrations and tasting events.
‘Tia, Online Shop and Brewery Gurner'
Tia manages our busy online shop. If you can’t make it over to Chiswick, don’t worry as we can deliver directly to you. Tia is the epitome of multi-tasking, serving customers in the Brewery Shop as well as taking evening and weekend Brewery Tours – her enormous energy levels are fuelled by Session IPA and Unfiltered Lager.
‘Hayley, Brewer from up North’
Finally, we have been doing some test brews in our new Pilot Brewery. Hayley, our Brewer will soon be planning our first run of new recipes. These will also be available on Growler and I will be able to let you know what beers she will be brewing very soon.
On a personal note I’m going to be a very busy boy indeed over the next couple of weeks. Wednesday sees me judging in round one of the World Beer Awards which includes six hours of tasting over 100 beer styles. On Saturday I’m back in Belgium for a week and hope to fit in six breweries. The day after I get back it will be off to London Craft Beer Festival to deliver some tutored tastings. Busy!
