This is a delightful traditional pub in the private village of Southwick on the north side of Portsdown Hill. It has a great reputation for fine food and everything is freshly prepared using local produce. It is difficult to recommend one particular dish but, if we had to, the steak and ale pie is very popular. Sunday lunches are busy and you are advised to book at least a week in advance. There is also a small patio garden at the back, perfect for summer evenings.
  • Close to Southwick House, used in World War Two
  • Near to the many forts on Portsdown Hill
  • Good for walking, with views over the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth
