As a family company, the family ethos has remained strong as the company has grown and is still very evident. Many employees stay with Fuller’s for many years. Being part of a successful company, which combines its great heritage as a regional brewer with a modern thriving retail business, helps high calibre recruits to the business. The combination of respecting our heritage and also embracing new ideas makes Fuller’s an exciting place to work.
Our latest external accreditation award was “One to Watch” in the 2011 Sunday Times 100. We intend to be listed in the top 100 by 2012. In June 2010 we received the JP Morgan Family Business award. The awards are built around three pillars business success, family governance and social responsibility. We are very proud to be on top in all three categories.
This year, Fullers launched their first graduate development programme. Our ambition was high, to attract the highest calibre of suitable candidates. The strength of our employment proposition ensured we had great interest and a fantastic response. We were able to compete with many blue chip companies for the best candidates. Our first cohort will be joining us in September 2011.
Everyone contributes to the company’s success. Fuller’s employees are also incredibly passionate about the company, its beers and its pubs – passion is a must-have in new recruits. We strive to recruit the best and we look after our people.
Some organisations pay lip service to their stated values. We live our values and recruit against them. Fuller’s and its employees have a passion for quality, service and taking pride in everything we do. Everyone embraces our core values of respecting our heritage, integrity, teamwork and “can-do” approach.
We have recently completed a new framework of employee competences which explicitly state our expectations on how we will all work and ensure success. This framework will be further implemented into the business over the coming months.
We have a dedicated training department, which helps our employees with mentoring and ongoing individual training needs and our Personnel team ensures that all members of staff have access to development opportunities.
We have a policy and track record of training, developing and promoting our people. We strive to support and nurture our employees giving them opportunities to reach their potential. There are great opportunities for progression, entrepreneurialism, responsibility, working and learning from talented people in a unique organisation.
We recognise and reward excellence throughout the business, whether it be through promotion or a number of internal awards. We also value loyalty very highly and offer a range of benefits to encourage employees to take a stake in the Company’s long-term success.
Our internal “Pride & Passion” initiative aims to provide regular communication of our vision and core values, as well as new developments and ideas, and encourages all employees to share and apply them in their work and give feedback. We also organise an annual open day at the Brewery which requires the continued support of our employees, in their own time, to run the various activities we offer. We are never short of volunteers for any such events and take pride in the fact that our employees are proud to work for Fuller’s.
